Analog Iran
In 2019, Ali MC made a month-long journey through Iran at the height of tensions with President Trump and the local economy in free-fall.
Travelling as far as the Afghani border, Ali sought to document on black and white film the tension and mood of a nation under immense economic, political and religious pressure.
Exiting the country via the land border with Iraq – and with 30 rolls of film intact – the photographs would be transformed into a book titled Analog Iran.
Working with an Iranian curator to select photographs and translate text, Analog Iran is a document to a mood and a moment in time.
Ali continues to work with Iranian and Kurdish community members and refugees through his journalism and ongoing human rights advocacy.
Analog Iran can be purchased at presentations and online.
